What a pawn loan actually costs
Florida sets the framework: a 30-day term, a stated interest rate, and a written contract that tells you the principal, the interest, the maturity date and what happens if you do not redeem. You should be able to read every number before you sign, and any shop that will not put them in front of you is telling you something.
There is no application fee and no credit check. The cost of the loan is the interest on the amount advanced, and the amount advanced is set by the collateral — what the item would reliably resell for, discounted for the shop taking the risk of holding it.
What we lend against
Gold, silver and diamond jewelry; luxury watches with reference and condition verified; laptops, phones, cameras and consoles that are signed out of previous accounts; power tools with batteries and chargers; guitars, amps and keyboards; and collectibles with documentation.
The strongest collateral is documented, complete and in demand. A watch with its box and card, a laptop with its charger, a tool kit with two healthy batteries — each of those moves the number more than most people expect.
When a pawn loan is the wrong tool
If the item has no resale demand, a loan will be small or unavailable, and that is a fair answer rather than a negotiating position. If you are unlikely to redeem, selling outright usually nets more than a loan you default on.
And if what you need is a month of breathing room rather than a long commitment, say so at the counter. The 30-day structure with an interest-only extension exists precisely for that.
